10 Top UK Ice Cream Parlours

The best thing about ice cream is that it’s fresh and perfectly timed to a summer’s day – the beach scenes are optional. Our city centres have plenty of places to chill and enjoy a gelato. Read on for the full scoop on 10 of the top ice cream parlours in London, Bath, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.

LONDON

The Parlour at Fortnum & Mason

Head to The Parlour for the fanciest scoop in town. The decadent interiors will take you back to a parlour of times gone by whilst classic flavours are mixed with exciting, new ingredients.

EDINBURGH

Luca’s

As an east coast institution, Luca’s have been making top quality ice cream since 1908. You’ll find them on the menu in more than a few local, independent restaurants, and you can visit their Edinburgh shop in Morningside, a 30-minute stroll from our Apex City of Edinburgh or Apex Grassmarket Hotels. Their Toffee Fudgy Wudgy scoop is a tried and tested favourite.

The ice cream hot chocolate at this retro parlour caused quite a stir on social media last year. But it’s the crazy ice cream flavours that have got our summer hearts racing. From Cherry Bakewell and Pecan Choc Chip to Blue Cheese & Walnut and White Chocolate & Thyme, you’ll want to sample them all.

A trip to Broughty Ferry when visiting Dundee is well worth it when you factor in a stop at Visocchi’s. This family run business prides itself on authentic Italian recipes, and their ice cream recipe has been passed down through generations. Whether you sit in or take-away, you’ll experience a little taste of Italy right here in Scotland.

BATH

Swoon Gelato

New to the scene in may 2017 is Swoon. They believe that life is made better with a little gelato and so do we! The successful ice cream patrons have come over from Bristol, and you’ll find them at 15 Kingsmead Square, just a stone’s throw away from the new Apex City of Bath Hotel.

The ice cream here is topped so beautifully, it almost looks too good to eat. The Real Italian Ice Cream Company is another family run business whipping up a fabulous array of fresh, ice cream flavours. It’s not uncommon for the queues to snake out the door and down the street, but we promise it’s worth the wait.
