Best of the Fringe at Apex Grassmarket

From arts to comedy and everything in between, there’s something for everyone at the Edinburgh Fringe at Grassmarket. During The Fringe, Apex Grassmarket Hotel is transformed into a vibrant venue hosting shows and a pop-up café in partnership with Sweet Venues. To save you time we’ve picked out a few shows below.

There’s one for the kids, one that will make you laugh and one that will make you think. Whatever you choose, make sure to drop by our pop-up café for a drink beforehand or dine in Tony Singh at Apex Grassmarket before your show.

For the kids: Princess Pumpalot (4+)

Dates: August 4-16, 20-21

Time: 11.30am

Duration: 50 minutes

Back with a brand new show for 2016, kids are sure to love this story about the Princess who farts. Can Princess Pumpalot and her best friend Guffy solve the mystery of the missing super-farting bean and save Wiffyville from the nasty low-flying Gnomes? The play is performed in the style of a radio play and is based on the bestselling book by Robin Mitchell. Suitable for those aged 4 and older this show will make the whole family laugh.

Funny: Aidan Goatley – Mr Blue Sky (18+)

Dates: August 4-28

Time: 10.15pm

Duration: 1 hour

Following great reviews last year, Aidan Goatley is back with his hilarious stand-up show guaranteed to have you rolling with laughter. He’ll explain how, despite a fear of flying, confrontation and the future, he found happiness. With great reviews from The Scotsman, The Edinburgh Evening News and FringeGuru this is a must see this August.

Thought Provoking: Peter Antoniou – Happy Medium (12+)

Dates: August 4-15, 17-28

Time: 8pm

Duration: 1 hour

Direct from London’s West End, the award-winning ‘psychic’ comedian will use his unique skills to look inside your head and make you laugh. Come prepared with a question about your past, present or future and Peter will have an answer for you. Full of humour, with a twist of the unknown, this show will leave you wondering and wanting to know Peters secret.
