If you’ve not already heard, we’re opening the next Apex Hotel in the fine city of Bath. This is where we’ll be keeping you up to date with key building milestones of the new hotel. Scroll down to follow our progress.

August 2017

This month we welcomed our first guests to Apex City of Bath and we’ve already had some incredible and very thoughtful TripAdvisor reviews. From check-ins to celebrations, we’re celebrating our first experiences with our guests now. As we make the final tweaks and finishes, we look forward to welcoming you to our brand new hotel in Bath, your new place to be.

June & July 2017

It’s been an interesting month for our new Apex City of Bath Hotel. We’ve welcomed summer with the appointment of lots of new smiley faces in the form of our wonderful new hotel department managers. We’ve said goodbye to the scaffolding that’s been hiding us away for so long, and revealed the famous Bath stone façade that we’ve been waiting very patiently to show off.

With the scaffolding down, we’re now moving indoors. Next month we’ll be focusing on all the interior design and final touches for the hotel’s big opening in August.

May 2017

There have been green fingers for the construction team this past month as they laid our lovely sedum roof. As well as looking great, it brings a range of environmental benefits, including proving important microclimates for insects, bird life and other even rare species. Top fact, the word “sedum” comes from the latin word “sedeo” which means “to sit”, because it looks as though sedum plants are just sitting on top of the thin, rocky soils that they naturally grow in.

April 2017

This month we’re delighted to introduce the newest member of our Apex City of Bath family, the award-winning Head Chef, Ben Abercrombie. Ben has already been busy in the kitchens at Bath College, working with the hospitality students teaching them one of his favourite recipes for Cornish pollock. This is a dish very close to Ben’s heart as it is what won him his first ever job as a Chef.

Find out more about Chef Ben and his plans for Apex City of Bath.

March 2017

As the clocks spring forward, we finish fitting out the very first Apex City of Bath bedrooms. Rooms 157 and 159 are now complete. On the first of four floors, these rooms feature our unique and contemporary Apex style, and each have two large, double beds – perfect for families.

Here’s a little video of the rooms in the making…

And here’s the finished result.

As well as Family rooms, guests will also be able to choose from City, Superior, and Deluxe rooms, each complete with impressive features like Sky TV. Upgraded rooms will come with more space and some will have balconies and fantastic views toward the south and west ends of the city.

February 2017

We’ve now hosted some hard hat tours of the site and you can get your very own whirlwind tour, through the photos below. In February, the swimming pool works commenced so we’re starting to see the foundations and the scale of the pool come to life, it won’t be long until we can jump in.

Our rooms are taking shape as well, and next month we’ll see the first bedrooms furnished.

January 2017

A new year and a new skyline for Apex City of Bath. The main crane has been taken down recently, signalling the final stages of exterior construction.

Swimming pool works for the lower ground floor leisure facilities can now begin, along with our first bedrooms.

December 2016

This month has been a busy one on site and just in time for the festive period, Apex City of Bath Hotel is now weatherproof.

In addition to the roof completion and windows going in, the structural frameworks have been completed and the stone work has begun. Inside, the rooms on the first and second floors are well advanced as we start to see partition walls go in and the layout of the building come together. As we progress into the New Year we’ll start to see our first sample room revealed so keep a look out for some sneak peaks.

November 2016

Apex City of Bath build is in progress.

It’s an exciting month, for our new Apex City of Bath Hotel, when lots of progress on both the exterior of the building and the interiors.

Inside, much of the framework is complete and corridors and rooms can now be identified. Starting at the bottom and working our way up, much of the basement and first floor is being fitted – on site, you really get a sense of the scale and size of the corridors and stairwells.

And there was light… almost! The cabling for the power is being fitted this month, and the first windows have started to go in. By the end of the month, we’re aiming to be wind and water tight.

From the outside, if you look closely at the front corner of the building, tucked away behind the scaffolding you can see part of the stonework has been completed. With this in mind, we’re delighted to say the scaffolding will be coming down in the next month.
