A guide from day to night in London

London is jam-packed with things to do during the day, making it one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe. But as night falls, the city comes to life. Take advantage of over 15 hours of daylight in the summer months to help extend your day into a summer night’s dream. You’ll find everything you need to plan your trip with this guide from day to night in London.

Afternoon itineraries

Catch an open top bus, it’s the best way to see the city if you’re short for time. You can soak up the sunshine and ensure you don’t miss any of the sights. Buy a 24-hour pass for Big Bus Tours and hop around the city for a full day for just £30. The red route covers all the main attractions but be sure to stop at the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Westminster and Big Ben.

Hop off throughout the afternoon and explore the city on foot. Walk along the bank of the Thames, you can spend as much or as little time as you have popping into boutiques, discovering a new bar or pop-up restaurant and relaxing on the grass with an ice cream in hand.

Sit back and recharge after a long day at one of our restaurants and bars. We’re dotted around Central London next to the Tower of London, just off London Wall and on Fleet Street so you’ll always find somewhere to eat and refuel nearby.

Then make the most of those long summer nights and go out in the town. Skip the stereotypical west end show and head somewhere to appreciate our lovely city in its finest hours.

Cross the river and you’ll find The Oxo Tower on the banks of the River Thames – one of London’s best terrace bars. Start your night here and watch the city sparkle as the sun goes down and the drinks begin to flow.
