5 reasons we’re so obsessed with brunch

There are countless reasons we love brunch. No longer just a meal during the day between breakfast and lunch, brunch has been transformed into an Insta-worthy social event on weekends. As far as Millennial food trends go, this one is our favourite. What’s more indulgent than treating yourself to some avocado on toast whilst sipping a mimosa at 11am on a Sunday morning?

We’re huge advocates for brunch here at Apex Hotels, and not just because our menu at The Lampery is the stuff dreams are made of… Read on for the top five reasons we’re so obsessed with this weekend indulgence.

The food

Breakfast food has always been heralded as being great. What’s better than a full English breakfast in the morning? Or some avocado on toast with perfectly poached eggs? Brunch takes your typical breakfast menu and combines it with – you guessed it – lunch.

Brunch at The Lampery is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 noon – 4pm so if you’re in the mood for a burger and your friend’s in the mood for Eggs Benedict, you can get the best of both worlds. Find out more about brunch at The Lampery here.

The socialising

The social aspect is one of the main reasons we love brunch. Getting together with friends on a weekend morning to enjoy good food and great company is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Whether you’re catching up with old friends you haven’t seen in a while or getting together with your regular crew, brunch is the perfect activity to indulge in together.

Plus, if you’ve been out the night before and are feeling slightly worse for wear, not only will the brunch cure your hangover, it’ll give you a chance to catch up on the antics from the night before with your friends.

The drinks

Whether you’re starting your weekend shenanigans early with a mimosa, or curing your hangover with a hair of the dog Bloody Mary, there’s no judgement at brunch. The team of bartenders at The Lampery are experts at whipping up skilfully shaken concoctions to go with your pancakes, eggs or whatever your dish of choice is.

You can even take your brunch up a level at The Lampery and upgrade to free-flowing Prosecco for just £15 per person.

The Insta opportunity

Instagram was basically invented for brunch snaps, right? Every Millennial’s favourite social media platform is full of beautiful flatlays of brunch dishes, close-up shots of latte art and Boomerangs of knives piercing perfectly poached eggs.

Don’t open the app if you’re hungry. If you’re a wannabe foodie blogger, posting a few filtered shots of your baked eggs in the morning is a sure-fire way to get your Instagram page looking hot. So, order the prettiest dish on the menu and get snap-happy.

The indulgence

Our patron Samuel Pepys infamously loved to indulge, and there’s nothing more indulgent than eating avo toast and drinking mimosas at noon on a Sunday! Treat yourself to a decadent dish or two and bask in the luxuriousness of it all. Bubbles at midday? Oh, go on then! An extra serving of pancakes? Sure, why not? On weekends we brunch…
