black friday madness

Black Friday is approaching and we decided to take a more literal approach to the madness this year. In addition to scouring the internet for Black Friday bargains, we’re looking for something a bit different to commemorate the occasion. Our Instagram feeds suggest that the colourful unicorn trend is still alive, and with ‘single-use’ being Collins Word of the Year 2018, brands are now releasing biodegradable glitter for all those environmentally-conscious pastel lovers – telling us the millennial trend isn’t disappearing anytime soon.

However, for those of you who favour the darker things in life, and would take a black coffee over a Unicorn Frappuccino any day, we’ve found some equally as Instagrammable treats to satisfy the Wednesday Addams in you. Keep reading to come over to the dark side…

Situated in LA, Little Damage is a family-owned ice cream business that has gained a huge following on social media thanks to their signature black cones. The combination of their activated charcoal cones and their black soft-serve ice cream make these treats the ultimate dark dessert.

Continuing the LA food trend, Maria Marlowe featured this dark yet vibrant black sushi on her website. Not only is this Japanese dish ultra-chic, it’s ultra-healthy too. Finally, an Instagram trend that’s good for you!

On a slightly unhealthier (but equally as mesmerising!) note, there’s this Glam Rock Layer Cake created by Rosie at Sweetapolita. Can we consider Black Friday a cake-worthy celebration? If so, we’re definitely getting this!

Squid ink pasta seems to be all the rage right now and this particular recipe from i am a food blog  is the Gothic pasta of our dreams. The shrimp, burrata and peas only add to the wow-factor and make it even more Insta-worthy.

The internet seems to have gone wild for activated charcoal recently, with Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop championing the hype. Whether or not the somewhat spooky ingredient possesses detoxing properties remains to be seen, however we can confirm that this black lemonade certainly looks the part and will impress all of your Gothic friends.

Last but not least, we found these super Instagrammable black praline macarons from EyeSwoon. Whilst macarons can be tricky to make, we have no doubt these would be worth it.
