Things to do during Christmas in Glasgow

If you’re visiting the city this year, there’s lots of things to do at Christmas time in Glasgow. For couples, friends, families and locals – we’ve listed the key things to do in December.

Glasgow Style Mile is a shopaholics dream. You’ll find over 1,500 shops so it’s the ideal place to head for gifts and Christmas shopping this year. From St Enoch’s Centre, Buchanan Galleries, Princes Square, Argyle Arcade, House of Fraser and John Lewis – you’ll find everything you need in one day as well as coffee stops along the way. Most stores have extended Christmas opening times throughout December so you’ll surprise yourself and be super-organised.

Christmas Markets

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… we might be bias, but we definitely think that winter days in Glasgow are the best time of year. Wrap up warm and head out to the traditional Christmas markets to get in the festive spirit. Just a short walk from Apex City of Glasgow Hotel, both St Enoch’s Centre markets (opening on 9 November 2017) and George Square markets (opening on 25 November 2017). Mingle with mulled wine and listen to live entertainment and choose from hand crafted gifts throughout the day.

Festive Shows

Pantomimes and Christmas shows aren’t just for the kids. Favourites on show in Glasgow this year include Jack and the Beanstalk at the SEC and Sleeping Beauty at The King’s Theatre. Scottish Ballet are also performing The Nutcracker at Theatre Royal in January if you’re into something a bit more sophisticated. Each venue is a short distance from Apex City of Glasgow so you can fall back into bed afterwards.
