Roman Baths

Top of the list for things to do in Bath – no trip to the city would be complete without dipping your toes in the rich cultural pool of this stunning destination. Founded on natural hot springs, the Roman Baths gave Bath its name and are one of the best preserved Roman remains in the world.

The Great Bath offers the visitors the chance to step back in time and see the city as the Romans did. Special audio-commentary and a host of interactive attractions and activities help bring this fascinating complex to life for all the family.

Bath looks fantastic, this isn’t always appreciated by young children though – so why not pack your wellies and head to the National Trust’s Bath Skyline. This wide open space offers visitors fantastic views across the city and the perfect space to run around in.

As well as over six miles of way-marked footpaths there is also the Family Discovery Trail, and the ’50 things’ challenge, enough to keep even the most energetic youngsters amused.

Bike around Bath

As you’re on the move, get on your bike to explore this world heritage city. Bath is one of the growing number of UK cities offering visitors the chance to hire bikes to get around.

nextbike is a self-service bike hire with nine rental stations across the city, available 24 hours a day.

Score a hole in one

Following a sporting theme, tee-off at Victoria Falls Adventure Golf and try to score a hole-in-one with the children over rushing waterways and waterfalls. Finish the game and go for a walk around Botanical Gardens.

Theatre for kids

A perfect example of Bath’s stunning architecture – the Grade-two listed Theatre Royal is described as one of the most important surviving examples of Georgian Theatre architecture, often a first stop for West End productions they also have a successful panto period over Christmas and the fantastic Egg Theatre, which is set-up for kids’ productions.

Bath has some fantastic cafes, restaurants and shopping – none more so than the Southgate area. Distract the kids by dining in a street with a thousand umbrellas suspended above it. Your youngsters better have their selfie sticks at the ready to grab a picture in this spot. The second year the Southgate area has been transformed with the umbrella spectacle, this year’s celebration follows an enchanted forest theme and includes floral-covered walkways and tree lined avenues.

Fashion for little ones

Whilst you’re in the mood for fashion why not head to the Fashion museum? The attraction offers a host of activities for all the family.

Special events in Bath

Attracting visitors all year round take a magical hot air balloon flight over the city in Summer or attend one of Europe’s most successful Christmas Markets in Winter.
