Namaste, Sarah

Padmasana – (full lotus seated pose)

We are delighted to introduce to you our resident yoga expert, Sarah who will be joining us on the blog every month to share her top yoga tips.

Sarah has been with us at Yu Spa in Dundee for around 6 years now and is a fully-qualified Hatha Raja yoga instructor. Her practice focuses on strengthening the body and creating openness and flexibility, as well as clearing the mind in preparation for concentration and meditation. Sarah describes her practice as ‘energising’ and focuses on connecting breath with the flowing movement of ‘Asana’; a Sanskrit term which is often translated as “posture” or “pose”.

Sarah has a wide breadth of knowledge when it comes to yoga. She trained in Ashtanga Vinyasa and Seasonal Flow yoga at the Chi Yoga Centre in Glasgow, which encouraged her to pursue a career as a yoga teacher, focusing on the dynamic Hatha practice. According to Yoga Journal, Hatha yoga is designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.

Sarah also specialises in Pre and Post Natal Yoga and teaches Mum & Baby and pre-natal yoga classes for any expecting mothers. Speaking about her work in pregnancy yoga, Sarah said “I find it so rewarding to play a small part in these mums’ and babies’ lives.  It is such a wonderful and precious gift to be able to impart a little of my knowledge on to these mothers and help during their pregnancy, birth and beyond.”
