See Edinburgh from a new angle

Spring into action after a long winter spent indoors – it’s the perfect chance to get out and explore a new city. We’ve put together a list of the top spots you should visit across the city, but from an angle you might not have considered before.

Open Spaces

Top of our list is the panoramic view from Edinburgh’s dormant volcano, Arthurs Seat. It’s a must-see during your visit to the city. Climb to the top during spring and you’ll see the whole city, across to the Firth of Forth and Fife. If you don’t fancy the full hike, take a gentle stroll up the first part and you’ll still get a good view. If you like open spaces, The Meadows is a gem. It’s a fantastic place for a walk, run or just a step back from the city buzz.

The Old Town

The city’s Old Town is filled with history and culture. We challenge you not to find somewhere you’ll fall in love with. Start with the closes which connect the lower areas with the Mound and High Street. As you ascend, don’t forget to look back down to the city – you’ll thank us later.

City attractions

Not just for kids, Camera Obscura is all about alternative aspects. From illusions to photography and unrivalled rooftop views across the city, it’s a six-floor experience you definitely don’t want to miss.  We’d recommend a visit to the camera itself, on the top floor. With interactive sessions running every 15 minutes, you’ll learn about Edinburgh, past and present in a fun and entertaining way.

If you like what you see, the Scott Monument on Princes Street is open to the public where you can look down on the busy streets below.

The West

A little gem amongst the city highlights is Corstorphine Hill. Rising above the western suburbs you’ll find the Clermiston tower, filled with history, with views across the city and Murrayfield Golf Course and a peak into Edinburgh Zoo.  If you take a trip here, Cramond Beach is nearby – stroll out to the island when the tide is out to see the city from a different angle.

Fancy experiencing it for yourself? Book a spring break in the city to be in the heart of it all.
