Wedding Trends of 2018

Ringing in 2018 with the sound of wedding bells?

Perhaps you’re buying stacks of bridal magazines, trawling websites and staying awake with the midnight glare of your phone as your scroll the latest Pinterest and Instagram feeds.
Planning a wedding is a huge undertaking (just ask our team of wedding experts) never mind trying to stay on trend.

The Colour

Whether your bridesmaids look like a troupe of fairy cakes or a triumph of elegance, there is one colour they should be wearing. Pantone’s Nostalgia Rose shade has been named by every bride-to-be’s wedding bible as the colour of 2018, according to Wedding Wire. Get it right and the rest should follow.

For the groom

Well plaid – if you’re going for a Scots wedding the kilt shows no signs of checking out. This timeless favourite is still the way to go for many – as long as his mother’s family tartan has a nice shade of Nostalgia Rose.
However if you are looking for something different, stay on trend with tweed. The rough woollen fabric is a cut above even the most expensive suit, and offers something special which stands out from the day-to-day three piece.

The flowers

If you’re following the purple colour scheme, you’ll need a beautiful bouquet to perfectly balance against your blushing bridesmaids.

The aforementioned Pinterest is a good place to start.

You’ll need to consider the season your ceremony falls in, but the social media platform pulls together hundreds of options across numerous sites. There has also been a recent move away from neat bridal boutiques to seasonal, foraged flowers.

The food

Nowadays everyone’s in tiers EXCEPT the cake. Cupcakes were once the way to go, but in 2018 we are set to see couples choosing much more from the dessert menu – with groaning dessert tables stacked high. Think macaron wedding towers and doughnut delights.

Expect to see much more modern menus, with the traditional three courses shunned in favour of wedding buffets or even a pizza oven.

Bridal dress

Feathers, pearls, bows – 2018 is the year for creativity. And capes aren’t just for your superhero, wedding capes have been making a comeback on the catwalk and in the high street.
